Yes. The Maximum Wifi Connection Distance and Minimum Wifi Signal from LTE settings for your site can be adjusted based on your site layout and preferences to improve the connectivity of your walt Smart Radios.
With the weavix Console open:
- Use the Navigation on the left side of the page to go to Sites
- Select the site that you are at
- Go to the walt Setting tab at the top of the page
- Make desired adjustments to the settings and click the Save button in the bottom right corner.
- These settings will take a few minutes to get updated to all your walt Smart Radios
What do the settings do?
- Maximum Wifi Connection Distance: This setting allows you to control how strong of a Wifi signal a walt needs in order to connect to that Wifi network. If this is set too high, it can cause your walt to stay connected in situations where there is a weak Wifi connection and can cause your walt to preform poorly. If it is set too low, it can cause your walt to disconnect from the Wifi too quickly when it has a good connection. We want to adjust this setting to ensure we have the maximum Wifi coverage possible without having a poor connection.
- Minimum Wifi Signal from LTE: This setting allows you to control how your walt switches between Wifi and LTE if you have an SIM card in your walt. The percentage represents the strength of the Wifi signal in comparison to the strength of the LTE signal. A low number on this setting will mean that the walt will prefer a Wifi connection over the LTE connection. A higher number will mean that the walt prefers a LTE connection more so than the Wifi connection.
What settings should I have for my site?
It is best to make small adjustments to these settings and test out how your walts behave for several different setting combinations.
Suggested settings:
- If you are only using Wifi, you should increase the Maximum Wifi Connection Distance to 120 feet and adjust up and down from there to find the point that your walts stay connected but are still able to send messages consistently. The Minimum Wifi Signal from LTE setting is not important in this scenario.
- If you are using Wifi and LTE, if you want to force the walts to use Wifi more often when you are in your building, you should increase the Maximum Wifi Connection Distance and decrease the Minimum Wifi Signal from LTE setting.
- If you are using Wifi and LTE, if you want to force the walts to use LTE more often than Wifi, you should leave the Maximum Wifi Connection Distance at the default, but you can increase the Minimum Wifi Signal from LTE setting to prevent the walt from changing to Wifi unless it is significantly better than the LTE connection.
