Alert Types allow you to set up customized notifications that are broadcasted to users based on the severity of the alert. This ensures that the right message is delivered in the right way—whether it's a simple informational notice or a critical danger alert.
Note: Alert Types are only visible if you purchase Protect.
There are three Alert Levels to choose from:
- Informational: General, non-emergency information
- walt: Dings and vibrates until acknowledged
- Mobile App: Sends a push notification
- Warning: Impending dangers
- walt: Sounds alarm and reads alert in elevated voice until acknowledged
- Mobile App: Rings like a phone call and plays alert message in elevated voice
- Alert volume is based off ringer volume
- Danger: Immediate dangers
- walt: Sounds alarm and reads alert in panicked voice until acknowledged
- Mobile App: Rings like a phone call and plays alert message in panicked voice
- Alert volume is based off ringer volume
Pro Tip! Alert types are color coordinated so it's easy to differentiate between the levels. The icon color will match the assigned level. Blue for Informational, Yellow for Warning and Red for Danger.
Below are examples of what the alert types look like on the walt Smart Radio and mobile app.
Pro Tip! Create a unique Alert Type for any recurring or consistent messages you send. This helps with faster alert creation and makes it easier to track sent alerts during audits or reviews. (ie. Tornado drills, fire alerts, weather warnings, informational reminders)
How to Add an Alert Type

Click on Alert Types from the left menu. Then click the blue Add Alert Type button at the top of the screen.
